There’s one chief difference in the market for 3D hentai and erotic digital content between Japan and the west. While, in Japan, fans will go to a few hentai content aggregators and pay as much $10 to download a single manga or $30 to download a hentai video or game, in the west, audiences expect their 3D hentai free. This has created a serious problem for the mainstream industry. In Japan, a company might put a ton of money, time and manpower into the creation of a 3D hentai property, and at least have a chance of making their money back. Creating 3D hentai has been getting easier and easier over the years. In the past, creating a decent looking human model in CGI was next to impossible. It took a skilled artist several months, if not longer, and the results often left much to be desired. Then came along software like Daz Studio from Daz 3D and Poser from Smith Micro. For decades, the art associated with anime and manga, including hentai works, was drawn by hand and required traditional skill. When computers advanced to the point where full 3D computer generated animation was possible, it was, at first, cost prohibitive, and only large studios could invest in it.
